These next digital art pieces were mainly influenced by Spike Lee’s 1989 comedy-drama film, “Do the Right Thing” and the 90’s Bootleg Bart (The Simpson’s) t-shirt trend, both which had a profound impact on street fashion, art and culture. “Do The Right Thing” is undoubtedly one of my favorite Spike Lee movies (amongst many like Jungle Fever, Malcom X, School Dazs, Crooklyn, He Got Game, Mo’ Better Blues, and many more), and depicts a story that pursues a Brooklyn neighborhood’s boiling pot of racial hostilities, which ultimately leads to a waterloo ending on a scorching summer day. If you have not had a chance to see this film, I RECOMMEND YOU DEF SEE IT! Enjoy!
This collection’s influence, descends from one of the most infamous days in modern sports history, June 14, 1994. One of those major events included the notorious low-speed police chase of national sports superstar, Orenthal James “The Juice” (O.J.) Simpson, who was accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman. O.J. fled in his iconic 1993 White Ford Bronco down California highways for about 45 minutes until he ended up at his mansion, where he later surrendered to police. It is estimated that at the time, 95 million peopled tuned into their televisions to watch the live police chase of, “The Juice”.
